you, our next thriving student?

i purchased a couple manhattan prep books, ets's official guide, different phone apps, etc. yet i ended up using magoosh's online application almost exclusively. i work full time and was only able to study after work and weekends. i was exhausted most nights after work before i even sat down to study... without the structure that magoosh provides i would not have been able to be nearly as effective. i did not want to take the test more than once and my target was a 330. i scored a 331; what else can i say? magoosh was literally a fraction of the price of the other paid resources. it has everything you need, trust me.

magoosh helped keep me on track, at a much lower price point than other test prep systems. i followed the one-month plan, and was happy to do small pieces of prep each day. while i couldn't keep up the pace with a full-time job (as the guide warned me), i still believe magoosh helped me a lot. i learned general strategies (number sense, not looking at the verbal answers without my own answer), a sense for timing, and most importantly, i always had a plan to follow so i couldn't second-guess myself.

taking the gre for the first time, i was quite apprehensive about the prospect of undertaking such a taxing test. luckily, i stumbled upon the magoosh product and purchased it without hesitation. it was money well spent. the design of the product acclimatized me to the tight time constraint of the test - over the course of undertaking practice sessions, i was able to develop the synapses necessary for a quick response time, as well the requisite stamina for the test.
the resources, such as the study plans, flashcards, and vocabulary builder are marvelous for prep.
furthermore, mike mcgarry's videos and explanations are excellent for anyone looking to get reacquainted with mathematical concepts crucial for the gre - he makes everything abundantly clear.

the authentic practice problems helped immensely. i was afraid my score wouldn't change, but i was shocked and delighted when my verbal shot up by 6 points!

the practice problems, tutorials, and lessons were tremendously helpful. i had several gre books as well, but magoosh was by far my preferred method of studying; it kept me engaged for much longer, and it familiarized me with the computerized format so that i was more comfortable on test day.

i mostly used the quantitative review videos to relearn math i had not used since high school. the explanations were much clearer than other resources i had tried, and i appreciated that the content was focused on what could actually be on the test, rather than just the concepts

getting used to the types of questions on the gre.

before i started with magoosh, my score was predicted by magoosh and kaplan to be base 160's in math, low-mid 150's in verbal and 4-4.5 in awa. thanks to magoosh's practice questions, lessons, study plans, support and recommended outside materials (lsats, manhattan online tests, ets official material) i was able to improve my score by almost 20 points, with a jump of 10+ points in verbal alone and a 1pt bump in writing.

practice questions were excellent for pointing out what bits of math rules i had to brush up on before the test. the practice test was very helpful for preparing myself mentally for the long exam and learning pacing.

just going through hundreds of practice problems was helpful. previously i used a book, and there just weren't enough practice problems.

well i didn't have much time to study for the gre (about 2 weeks), i am a non-native english speaker, my english is not very good, so i hoped to have a really bad score on the verbal section, i tried practicing magoosh verbal exercises and i found that there were lots of questions in which i didn't know the meaning of a single word from the answer choices, so i felt discouraged. also when reading passages, i got lost quickly because sometimes there were many words or expressions in a single paragraph that i didn´t know. so i decided to try to learn some vocabulary from the magoosh gre flashcards, unfortunately, i could just study the meaning of the basic ones which are about 300 from the 1000 words available. when i gave the test, i found many words from those 300 that i have studied and also that the test was not as complicated as the problems in magoosh, probably i should have customized the questions and try answering the easiest ones first because most of the ones i saw in magoosh (i just tried practicing about 100 from the +600 available) were tagged as hard or very hard.
a 155 might seem like a very low score, but it's much more than what i expected. whithout learning magoosh vocabulary, probably i would have scored much less (145-150), so i really recommend those flashcards. i think that with some weeks more of practice i could have scored, at least, 160.
for the math section, on the other hand, for me the kind of questions asked in gre tests are not very difficult, probably most of them medium to easy. so i tried to focus on this section, because i thought i didn't have much chance on the verbal section, i resolved all the problems available from magoosh, and i think that really helped become more confident in the exam and get a 170, without it i probably would have scored, at least, 1 or 2 points less. because there are some kind of 'tricky' questions.

i did everything with magoosh. honestly, i wouldnt know where to begin without magoosh. i killed the gre and magoosh was the only tool i used.

loads! it helped cement my weakness and iron out issues i had with particular subject matter. during my first gre, i was convinced that i was done for, because many questions seemed hopelessly complicated for solving within the time given... nonetheless i focused my attention on my weaknesses and was able to on my next gre test raise my grades from m: 153, v: 153, w: 3.5 to m: 159, v: 158, w: 4.5. i then did it again and raised my math score up to 163, verbal up to 159, and written at 4.5!
